Who is Eligible for WIC?

  • Pregnant Women
  • Breastfeeding Women – up to the infant’s first birthday
  • Newly Delivered Mothers – up to six
  • Infants
  • Children – up to age 5
  • Foster Infants and Children – birth to age 5


Those person qualifying for participation in the Nebraska WIC Program must meet the following criteria established by the Department of Health and USDA:

  • Live in Nebraska
  • Your gross household income is less than or equal to the income guidelines listed
  • You are automatically eligible for WIC if you currently receive ADC, SNAP (food stamps), Kids Connection or Medicaid
  • Have a nutritional risk
    • Be determined by a qualified nutritionist and/or nurse, through a health & diet assessment, to be at a nutritional risk. Risk factors include anemia, high risk pregnancy, abnormal growth or poor dietary intakes Infants and breast feeding mothers are certified for one year after baby is born, pregnant women are certified for the duration of their pregnancy.
  • Fathers, guardians or foster parents may apply for WIC for their children
